YouBrew started from a fairly simple problem: keeping recipes, brew-day notes and the results of each Batch in one useful place.

Homebrewing information has a habit of ending up everywhere. A recipe might be stored in BeerXML, brew-day notes in a notebook, ingredient information on another website, and the final results in a spreadsheet or somewhere else entirely.

YouBrew is being built to bring those parts together.

At its core, the site is about recipes and what actually happens when you brew them. Recipes can be recorded or imported, then individual Batches can be used to keep track of the real brew and compare the result against the original recipe.

Alongside that, YouBrew includes reference information for beer styles and brewing ingredients, as well as practical brewing tools and notes from the Blog.

The aim is not to replace the process of brewing with software. It is to make the information around each brew easier to keep, find and use the next time around.

The idea is that each brew adds something useful, whether that is a recipe worth repeating, a change worth making next time, or simply a better record of what happened.

YouBrew is now live, but this is only the starting point.

Over time, the site will grow with more recipes, Batch records, brewing notes and useful reference material.
